Day Five

Day five: By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about your “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?

My oldest character in my stories would have to be The Voice. She’s immortal and a goddess and has been around for about 4,000 years. Give or take a century. But she really doesn’t look that old. Har har.

My youngest characters… well several of my characters have children. So I have had several newborns. But if we are talking more along the lines of characters that actually play more a part then a “prop” (I know that sounds like a cruel way to describe a baby…but seriously that’s what some of them become in my stories. Maybe I should develop my babies more, give them some personality) then the youngest character I’ve written has been ten, and that was Noah in his prologue when he got his powers.

My oldest in terms of who has been around the longest would be Selene. Though she has had many changes of names, she was my first serious attempt at a story (at least the first attempt that I kept) and so she has been with me for about a dozen years and has grown and changed as she tries to tell me her story.

The newest character to really enter the world of my characters would have to be Micah. Which is funny because he is actually Selene’s love interest/husband/father of her children and him as a character and who he is is the newest person to really enter my writing. I have plans for certain other characters but I haven’t written anything on them past an outline and I don’t count them.
