Me
Written on: February 4, 2004 (age seventeen)
I wear a mask
A smile on my face
My eyes guarding my secrets
I'm an illusion
Doing my best to hide who I am
Trying to keep to myself
I am different
You think I have it easy
But that's only a show
I'm growing
Yet I hold onto my childish fears
They cloud my judgment
I'm tears
Curled up in a ball late at night
Letting free my worries and sorrows
I've changed
From a child inside
To someone who knows the pains of life
I'm lost
In a crowd of millions
But no one can see me
I'm scared
Of not reaching my own high expectations
Of disappointing my family
I'm me
Hiding a creative soul
In a shy shell
